A country where if you work hard, you can actually breathe. Where getting sick doesn\u2019t ruin you. Where having a child doesn\u2019t feel like a financial emergency. Where a paycheck means stability, not just survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I want an America that works for all of us<\/strong>, and especially for the people who keep it running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not just the wealthy. Not just the well-connected. Not just the people who got lucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This shouldn\u2019t even be controversial anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a country as rich as ours, healthcare should not be a privilege you \u201cearn\u201d through employment or wealth. It should be a guarantee. If you get sick, you get care. If you\u2019re injured, you get treated. If you need medication, you get it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because right now, too many people live with this quiet fear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI hope nothing happens.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n That\u2019s not freedom. That\u2019s anxiety with a flag on top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We talk about family values all the time. But when a baby is born, our system basically says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Good luck. Figure it out. Don’t fall behind.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I want paid maternity and paternity leave<\/strong> that\u2019s real, and long enough for healing, bonding, and stability. Not a couple weeks if you\u2019re lucky, and not something only certain jobs offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And I want childcare help<\/strong> that treats childcare like what it is: essential infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n People can\u2019t work if they can\u2019t afford care. Kids can\u2019t thrive if their families are constantly drowning. Childcare isn\u2019t a \u201cpersonal problem.\u201d It\u2019s a national one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The working class is not asking for luxury. Most people I know want the same simple things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n That\u2019s it. That\u2019s the dream: stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So yeah, I want housing assistance<\/strong> that actually works, because housing has become a trap. I want a country that builds enough housing, keeps rents from spiraling, and steps in when people fall behind instead of waiting until they\u2019re homeless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I want food assistance<\/strong> that doesn\u2019t treat people like criminals for needing help. If someone is hungry, feed them. We can argue details all day, but the principle is basic: people should eat.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This is one that makes me mad, because it\u2019s so preventable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I want America to have stricter food standards<\/strong> so our food is cleaner, safer, and healthier. I want fewer chemicals we can\u2019t pronounce, fewer loopholes, fewer \u201cit\u2019s fine until it isn\u2019t\u201d decisions made for profit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because we\u2019re paying for it anyway, just later:<\/p>\n\n\n\n We shouldn\u2019t have to be nutrition detectives just to eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here\u2019s something I think most people feel but don\u2019t say out loud:<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are working ourselves to death and calling it normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I want an America where we can work less<\/strong> and still live better<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n A country that respects work shouldn\u2019t require people to grind nonstop just to stay afloat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I want to live in a country where getting around doesn\u2019t require owning a vehicle, paying insurance, paying repairs, paying gas, and praying nothing breaks at the worst time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I want transit that actually works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because right now, for a lot of people, a car isn\u2019t freedom, it\u2019s a monthly bill you can\u2019t escape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And the craziest part is: we built it this way. That means we can rebuild it differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We already pay, just in the most expensive, inefficient way possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We pay for lack of healthcare through ER visits and disability and medical debt. The real question isn\u2019t \u201ccan we afford to help people?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why are we okay paying more for suffering than we would pay for stability?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s an America where the working class doesn\u2019t feel disposable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Where people can fail without being ruined. Where you can get sick without losing everything. Where families are supported instead of scolded. Where healthy food is the default. We pay for lack of childcare through lost productivity and stressed families and kids falling behind.
We pay for lack of housing through homelessness and policing and emergency services.
We pay for bad food through chronic illness and massive medical costs.
We pay for car dependence through traffic, pollution, and the cost of owning a vehicle just to exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe America I want is not radical. It\u2019s normal.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
